Brik is the go-to service desk for students in Brussels, partnering with Dutch-speaking universities to provide everything from accommodation and transportation to city life and events. Every year, they publish an extensive student guide (in both Dutch and English) and distribute helpful flyers to introduce new students to the city and its universities.

The Mission
Brik chose us to bring a fresh, new visual style to their student guides for the next three years. With full creative freedom, we aimed to shake things up and capture the real Brussels, as experienced by both locals and international students. Our goal was to showcase the city’s gritty charm alongside the cozy, welcoming feel of a close-knit community.

The Results
Designing the guides was a journey through the textures, colors, illustrations, and photos that make Brussels unique. We created a series of quirky characters to guide readers through their discoveries. To keep navigation simple, we used a consistent color scheme and clean layout for the more text-heavy pages. But we also added fun elements—brush strokes, sticky notes, doodles, and scribbles—to keep things lively. Inspired by our own student days, we wanted the guides to feel like that one textbook we all ended up doodling in during study sessions!
